Default speedometer acting a lil funny

It happens every now n then, right around 30-40 mph, it just starts jumpin up n down. and at times it'll settle 10mph less than wat im going. Does anybody had this happen to their civic? My speedometer says 160k miles on it. Im thinking it could be the speed sensor or the gauge cluster. What do you guys think?
Also, if it is the gauge cluster and i replace it with another one, who can roll back or roll forward the miles to match what it is suppose to? thanks

I had this happen to me too, i replaced the speedometer, and it worked out great, not a problem since. I don't know how you would rollback the miles though, but if you do a search on it, your bound to find out how.

the same **** happenned to me, i changed the speed sensor and it still did the same thing. it turned out to be the actual cluster. i swapped that out and it works just fine. i've heard that u can take the cluster to honda and they will change the miles to match the original cluster. i have no idea how much it costs though.

i actually have had a spare CX cluster that I'm going to replace. The CX speedo has 135000 miles on it while mine has about 160000. I'm manually spinning the miles up to 16000, but my finger is startin to hurt. My goal is 1000 miles a day, so that should take 15 days. hahaha..

hey.. also, does anybody know how the speedo works? I took apart the speedo and noticed that the only metal contact it has to the wiring is the 3 metal screws that hold the speedo to the cluster.
