Default 91 LX Question

Ive got the chance to get an almost mint 91 LX 4door, engine needs a valve job though, according to the moron owner. I havent taken a deeper look into it, but what engine comes stock in this car, and anyone have a source to get such an engine?

Those engines usually get thrown out by people doing engine swaps.
I would not be suprised if you could get a good used one for $50.

Well in that case what would be a good engine to dump in there, for fairly cheap?

If I were to swap in this motor:

What else would I need? I am assuming halfshafts would be the same, just ECU and maybe a few other misc things? Thanks for all the help too, makes things much easier

you would need to convert to mpfi or use the stuff off of your 88 si like the engine harness and cabin harness the resistor box ect. I would also use the tranny if it is good and the axles will be the same dx or si also the dizzy so you can keep it obd0. You would also need a vtec computer or the si computer and a vtec controller or a zdyne from hasport. might be more stuff but I think that is all for now.

Or instead of getting a valve job on that head, take it off, and bolt on a D16Y8 SOHC VTEC head, along with the MPFI conversion.. Thats what I plan on doing to my 89 4dr DX. From what I understand the mini-me makes some pretty decent power with I/H/E.. Anyone to varify this?

This car is only going to be a winter beater, so power isnt really necessary, but if I can do some stuff cheap I will... I drive a 91 Dx Hatch now, soon to be B16'ed...

if anything just swap out the messed up head for the regular D16a6 head or one of the Single cam VTEC head u dont even have to run Mpfi but i would recommend to MPFI if u want to make decent power..
