If I up the compression in my B18C5 from 10.6 to 12.1:1 will it effect the WHP or the Torque mainly?Is there a general formula like 1 point compression equals 5% hp or 5% torque.What are the benefits of upping the compression?

 

Well since hp and tq are directly related.. it would have an effect on both.

no there is no general formula since it depends on everything else in the motor.

 

i thought if an AEM CAI gives 20hp then my type r makes 215hp and if i torque the head down 15ft lbs more...then i gain that in midrange

i have a before and after compression dyno if anyone wants to host the pic. torque didnt display because he had a MSD ignition on the car and it was ******* up the readings.. but HP is plain as day to see the difference.

stock ITR motor w/ Iceman, JDM 4-1, cam gears and GReddy exhaust. stock ITR cams, skunk2 p28

then the 2nd run is the same motor w/ endyn rollerwaves for 12.2:1 compression and the tuning done on cam gears. stock cams still.

peak was similar.. but under the curve it's a huge difference.

Mike Ill host the pic of the dyno run...email it to me.

Also..were the stock cams tuned with the cam gears before the higher compression...or was cam tuning done only after the high compression pistons were installed?

 

Just showing that Mini isnt what im worried about its what 200+whp and 1300lbs is going to do on the track, thats going to be a hell of a ride Jeff. Just watch out for when i put a sticker on it when you arent looking.
