Default Brake Noises

I have been having some noises coming from my left brake on my 87' accord. I haven't been able to look into it much and was wondering if anyone could help me out. When I slow down you can hear kind of a rubbing sound each time the wheel rotates. The more I press on the brake the louder the sound is. Its kind of like when your tire rubs on the fender, but it's not rubbing on anything. So each time the tire rotates as I'm slowing down it makes that sound. Any ideas?

Could be the wear indicator on your brake pad. That would be the first thing I would check.

Nah I still have 40-50% more. It's not a screeching sound, more of a rubbing.

Does your brake pedal vibrate when you hear this rubbing noise?

no not really, I guess you can sort of feel it in the car when stopping.

Nah, not that either. I checked. It's coming from the left front side, and I took everthing off and put it back on because I found nothing. It stopped for a while then started up again. The whole car doesn't bounce, just feels like it rubs on something ever time the tire rotates when braking.

I mean the right front side, not that it matters.

Could be that the grease in the slide pins dried out and the caliper sticks when it tries to pull back. Had this happen to me on an old Eclipse. It would drag for a few seconds and then go away, then come back when I stepped on the brakes again. Grease is your friend!

when you step on the brakes it doesn't keep rubbing, it's more like there is certain point in the rotation of the tire and rubs then. It's not a constant rubbing if thats what you mean

It might be a bad bearing or bearings... My car made a rubbing noise like that when i simply drove normal. Check if the bearings need grease

but could that have anything to do with brakes. The noise only occurs every time I break. It rubbs with every rotation of the tire, not continously.

i think its ur brake pads, they r worn out. u should go get new ones before the messed up brake pads messes ur disc up. then itll cost more money

no. again I have 40-50 % more of brake pad left. So for sure it's not that.

I'm not trying to be a jackass, so please don't take this offensively:

When you checked your pads, did you check both the inside and ouside pads? It's possible to have have only 1 worn pad out of the 2 because of a slightly sticky caliper, which isn't always noticeable otherwise. (My old '88 Accord had this problem before.)

Even if it's not the wear indicator making the sound, the rubbing sound could be caused by sticky caliper, possibly combined with a slightly warped rotor.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to check it out...
