Default Minimum rpms for 2nd gear...

Can second gear be lugged? The manual says 7mph is min speed. I occasionally find myself having to ALMOST stop but still going a few mph. Is it safe just to use second gear or is it better to come to a complete stop and use 1st? I have never been able to downshift to 1st in any car that was moving more than 2 or 3 mph.

I'd say it wouldn't be too bad as long as you didn't go WOT at like 1100 rpms, that would put some unessesary load on. Double clutch and match revs, it should go into first a lot easier.

its fine.. just drive the way you are driving.. I usually leave it in second at stop signs and just roll out. Its up to the driver. Of course second isn't the strongest but if you ain't in a hurry second gear is good in my opinion.

Yeah, I agree with the others. If you are not in a hurry, stay in 2nd gear but be gentle with the clutch. If the police is chasing you, double clutch and shift to 1st gear and step on the throttle...

Speed depends, sometimes I drop between 1000 and 1500 rpms. Usually I will stop and just annoy everyone behind me. I figure that low rpms in second is different than low rpms in say 4th or 5th. My down shift to 2nd is like and other, I wouldn't be revmatching but I wouldn't be dumping and just releasing the clutch. My R has to last a while, trying to rid myself of any bad driving habits. Thanks fellas.

You guys respond quick in the daytime, or what time it is where you are. I usually am on the board sometime between 10pm and 2am.
