Default What's my 96 ex worth?

Could you guys give me an idea what I should ask for my 96 civic Ex?

This thread is not a for sale ad. I just want to figure out if I want to sell it or build it.

Stats:
1996 Civic Ex. 65k miles. Ext black, Int grey. Sunroof. Everything works.

Body is excellent (has one 1" diameter dent about 1/4" deep near passenger side doorhandle) No other dents.
Paint is 95% perfect. Paint on hood isn't perfect...don't know how to describe it, but it's not that bad.
Never wrecked-clean title. Orig from NYC so NO RUST.
No feeble-failed attempts at a bodykit or whatever...its 100% stock body.
Interior is near perfect. No tears or abrasions on seats. No stains on carpet.

Has some unknown coilovers (sleeve kit). probably stock shocks.
Has an unknown short-throw shifter w/ urethane bushings w/ sparco shiftknob (techno R)
It's rolling on stock steelies / stock tires. Tires are probably bad as the car has sat for 3 years.

HERE'S the kicker: The engine is toast. The Main & Rod bearings are destroyed. Looks like minor oil starvation...probably from a loose oil filter. While the bearings are shot, the head looks to be fine. Maybe a valve job & general cleaning would take care it.

I have another D16Y8 shortblock (actually complete minus head) with 22k miles, but it's not in the car-it's in my shop floor.

I think that's it.

You should replace the motor with the one you have. You might be able to get upwards of 5-6K if it's running.

It's worth as much as what you think it's worth. ask yourself. . . what would you pay for it?

lol that doesnt really help him since hes asking for other people's imput here. Id go with 3k to, or a 4-5 with the new motor in it, assuming the head is good as you say

The reason I am asking the value with the bad engine, is I know a lot of ppl would like to drop a B or H series engine in it and I don't want to spend $$$ dropping a D series engine that someone would just pull right back out....if that makes any sense.

I do appreciate all the input.

U will most deff be able to sell it faster if its OEM.. then u will if its, 'hooked-up'

True. I think Im going to go ahead and drop the D16 back in it and use as a daily driver for a while. Dont want to rack up too many miles on my EVO.
