92 accord LX overheating fans turning on late problem
I have a 92 accord LX that is having problems with the fans turning on late. The gauge used to stay in the middle always with the fans coming on and off with the gauge not moving at all. Now it moves up to approx 3/4ths and then fans turn on and then it drops back down to normal.
I have changed the temp gauge sending unit (schucks), thermostat (honda), coolant temp sensor for ecu (honda), radiator fan switch(honda), Condensor fan switch(honda). None of these have helped the problem.
Has anyone seen the temp rise on their accord and then fans turn on the temp lowers again? It does not overheat, but it gets to approx 3/4ths on the gauge.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have not had that problem with the coolant temp fluctuating like that in my '92 Accord. However, I have been told that anything just short of the red mark on your gauge is acceptable. Have you tried flushing the system? If you don't have an overheating problem, I wouldn't worry about it too much......
Definately go with a flush, and get the pre-mixed 50/50 coolant and check for results.
Have you replaced your radiator cap as well?

I am going to flush the system today. However, I keep the car well maintained and I don't think I have any buildup problems. The radiator has been replaced as well. The water pump was changed 100k ago, but when I just had the timing belt replaced the mech said this one still looks good.
I am going to also put a honda oem temp sending unit in it.
Thanks.

Glad to hear you fixed your real problem (faulty sending unit). It really sucks when stuff like that happens because everything seems to check out okay. DAMN after market crap!
