1. Disco battery.
2. Disco electrical connections to alternator.
3. Loosen adjusting bolt and through bolt and remove belt.
4. Remove adjusting bolt and through bolt and remove alternator.
5. Remove brackets if needed.
6. Install is reverse from removal.
7. Tighten through bolt to 33 lbs.
8. Tighten adjusting bolt to 17 lbs.
Drive your car on ramps and work from the bottom.

lol.. take out the axle.. haha.. funny kid. Anyways.. if you can take out the alternator.. which is just common sense.. don't play with your car. Just bring it to a shop.

before you replace the alternator...just tighten the alt belt and see if that works, it is squeaking right? if it is my friend just tightend his and it stopped completely.
you need 2 14mm wrenches i think, tighten the bolts in the front and back of the alt

I keep reading these comments (this thread and others) about having to pull the brake booster (working above motor) or pull an axle or pull a header to get the alternator out... How are they in the way if you can work under the car? I've done a couple alternators on del Sols and EGs, and I've never had to pull anything but the alternator and unplug it.
Another tool that helps in tensioning the belt is a small pry bar or a really big screwdriver. Sometimes this helps when you are the only one working on the car.

i tried pulling it out but there was no room unless i took the axle out. but i decided to take the header out instead. maybe the car u worked on didnt have power steering. anyways...it was a tight fit so i just pulled the header off. i got the job done and thats all that mattters. right?

any manual that you pick up tells you to remove the axel in order to take out the alternator (thats what my buddies manual said) because we took out and replaced my alternator (i broke it on accident) on my EM1
we didnt feel like taking out the axel because thats more work than what we felt was involved
there are 2 bolts, you can see one from the top of the engine bay .. the other you gotta get uner the car for, just above the axels
like someone above said, pull the alternator back as far as you can and tighten it up and that will stop your suqeeks . . .
if not, and you have to pull it, pull it from the TOP .. its hard to get out, but you can get it out, think of it as a jigsaw puzzle
EDIT: oh yeah, make sure when your puttin the grounding wire back on the alternator, that that **** is TIGHT!!! i went thru like 2 batteries cuz i didnt realize it wasnt tightened down
