Default All I did was turn left.... any suggestions?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Im running out to get cigs, I make a u-turn from a dead stop at the stop light. As soon as I get into the turn something cracks, pops, whatever the sounds.. I lose all forward motion. I immediately press the clutch in, and pull over. Shut the car off and climb out. I peer underneath and nothing. Nothing dripping, nothing hanging, nothing. I get back in, start the car, and it moves. Very sluggishly. The motor still has all the power it had but now it seems as if the car is having a convulsion and its hard as hell to get above 45MPH. It pulls to the left pretty bad and makes alot of damn noise.

Im pretty inexperrienced with cars so I dont really know what it is. I just had the motor mounts and the drivers side axel replaced due to the previous owner wrecking the car. What should I look for to figure out what this is?

if you just had the axles replaced then take it back to the place that replaced it and smack them with a wrench

i'd say that they used a remanufactured axle and it broke, take it back to them and do what he^ said.

Thanks, I thought if I broke an axle the car wouldnt move at all though? Or perhaps I would see it hanging down from the car when looking underneath? I will definately call them when they get back in town. They are currently at Mustang Week.

If something in the inboard or outboard cv joint on the axle broke (like a tripod) it would externally look intact and still probably somewhat turn. You'd basically be using the cv boots to twist the axle then.

Good one

and yeah bro I would wait till they take out the axle to see the problem and if they scratch there head and say we don't see a problem....

Then take that axle and knock some sense into them

and tell them to read the Helm's Manual for dummies next time

Thanks for the info on this. I appreciate the timely response.

When I get this thing replaced, assuming it is the axle. Which axles should I use to prevent this from happening again?
