lots of think on ebay are great
like intake for example
its just stupid for anyone to go and spend 200 bucks on some stupid name brand intake when you can get the same thing for $30 bucks on ebay and just slap a k & N filter on there

its true that the gennaric headers that about like $100-150 arent that great but i gaurante you that they will make more power than stock headers and probably the same as the non JDM dc headers that cost like twice as much

If you pay that little of money for something it's probably going to perform that way.

Do you want to wear Nike or Pro-wings? Both are shoes and can fit perfectly into you feet and you can walk, run, or sleep with it. Both will probaly last the same but its the brand name that people see....If you on a budget, go with prowings, If sky's the limit....go with NIKE

The thing is it's not an investment. When it comes time to sell your car your mods really don't increase the value of your car. If you want to get any kind of money for them then you can try selling them but most of the time you'll only get 1/2 of what you paid for them after shipping plus it's a hassle.

Just be careful whenyou buy things on e-bay. Very few things like intake pipes, emblems, stickers, all that little cheap stuff is OK because...well....it's cheap, BUT for everything else even midly performance related NO. Think about it, even a silicone hose that is cheap might break off or corode fast over time. Don't get any headers, intercoolers, etc..., etc... unless it's from a reputable dealer that is selling brand equipment. The thing is a cheap e-bay part might work, but a name brand part proven to work better will work. If the part does break now you have even more money to spend if you haven't destroyed the engine in the process. If there is a rant and rave on a cheaper product that works just as well you will know about it here, otherwise it just hit and miss IMO. do what you want but remember this:

cheap, reliable, and fast Pick 2:

reliable and fast won't be cheap
cheap and reliable won't be fast
fast and cheap won't be reliable

again, that's different.

i doubt the people who hammered together the ebay header did a whole lot of research. your brands like comptech put quite a bit of effort into making good products that fit right and perform.

guages and intakes are one thing, but when it comes to outperforming something as tuned as an OEM header, it takes some engineering skill, not the ability to weld 4 pipes together with a flange.
