Default CEL and o2 sensors

I have a first gen b16 in my car right now. I just took off my header and put my stock exhaust manifold back on for now so i could wire up my 2nd o2 sensor(i had only one hooked up like most people do) so my car would run better. I got it wired up, but my CEL is coming on and is now flashing codes for the o2 sensors, could this be from bad o2 sensors????? it never came on before when i had only one sensor hooked up, or is there a chance that would have to do with wiring??? any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!!!

I'm not sure what the problem is but you can wire up the 1 o2 sensor to the ecu in 2 places. I have that done on mine and no cels.

If you chose to run only one O2 sensor you can tap the 2nd O2 sensor wire into the existing O2 sensor in the engine or at the ECU. To tap into the primary O2 sensor at the ECU, tap into wire C16

thats how it was for a year, i tapped the secondary one into the primary one when i did the engine swap and that's why my car ran kinda rough, stuttered a little at constant speed. now that i have the 2nd o2 sensor hooked up, it runs real smooth, but the CEL comes on after about 35 minutes on the highway. I want the 2nd one to be hooked up too, i was just curious though if that could be from bad o2 sensors, i don't want to go spend the money on them if they are still fine.....or if it most likely has to do with wiring somewhere.......

Are you using 1 or multi-were sensors?
I am using 2 4-wire ones, and I Simply hooked one up wrong.

Get a multimeter. masure the lambda (o2) output.
It should idle at about 0.6V. Then rev it up, it should go up to about 0.9V and when you let go of the gas it should drop to 0.2V until it switches back to idle.
The idle is always off, so pay no attention to that. CHeck the throttle map values.

If it's off by more then 0.1V/0.2V then you have a broken sensor.
Otherwise look into 2 or more wire sensors. The grounding may be faulty.

Did you check the voltage on them already?
Without those you know nothing.
