Default Hood latch not workin'

So I wanted to top off some washer fluid and reached for the hood latch (pull flap inside) and pulled and it didn't work. I think there's a problem with the cable but I'm not sure.

Is this a common problem on 91 Si's? And is this an easy fix?

It is common. The cable may have broken or disconnected from the latch. You can try to access the latch from the front of the car or remove the bumper to inspect the latch and pulling mechanism.

Yeah, I got a 91 civic with a problem like that. There was still pressure, but it wouldn't "click" and release. Figured out it still works for me if I press down on the hood hard and try it again. You might want to give that a try, if your problem is similar.

My old Civic did that. Pressing on the front of the hood helped. I often wondered if perhaps the hood spring was just getting weak over time. A new latch is like $20, worth a shot.

Thats is what I do to mine as well, I have to hold down the hood and than pull the lach for the hood to open, but sometimes that dosent work, I have to ask someone to hold the hood down so I can pull the lach at the same time untill I hear a click. Once I hear that I know the hood poped open.

Update: I tried pushing down on the front end of the hood and pulling the latch and it worked just fine. After that, I adjusted the rubber stoppers underneath the hood so the hood sits just a little lower in order for it not to happen again. Problem solved.
