Just got my Autopower 4pt Race rollbar in for the Camaro and plan to use the truck bedliner stuff (Herculiner brand I beleive) to coat the entire roll bar. Anybody ever tired this and can anybody think of a reason that it would not be a good idea? I will be fitting seat back braces for Kirkey seats and a camera mount to it also. Test fitted the bar last night (less the down tubes because of interior trim) and fitment seems pretty good. The only bad thing though is visibility is a lot less since the top bar blocks a noticeable portion of the upper rearview mirror. Probably going to need to mount a rearview mirror on the dash or just live with a really narrow rectangular view out the back.

Oh and one more question, should the area around the floor plates be beefed up with additional metal before the rollbar is mounted? In other words, do you think there is a real possibilty of the floor plates punching through in an HPDE/autocross car?

I think the bedliner stuff wouldnt work too well.

Get the bar in, and the holes drilled, and the interior panels trimmed, then paint it and install with nuts and bolts. You have to install it twice, sort of, but it will look better.

I used some "Truck & SUV" paint after hitting it with a self etching primer. Nice finish without being too glossy.

Between my wing and the rollbar, I cant see **** in my rearview.
