im sure you could.. i think it would be the exact opposite of the ls/vtec so you would need to tap the holes. and relocated the dowel holes. use the b16 head bolts and gasket. and b16 timmingbelt. thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

just to correct something

you cant use b16 head bolt with a b18a head, you need b18a head bolts

also for the person wanting to do this, dont bother, your better off picking up a vtec head

i totally agree. Torqueless and powerless. Ls head on a b16 block might be a crappier motor than the d series vtec motor . Same yourself frustration and get the vtec head.

the swap is for my wife, and right now it has a D16y8 in it sohc and I think that any B ser. swap, non vtec or vtec will be better the what she's got lol. and any ways have you seen how much B16 heads are going for now, there like $650. I can buy a whole B16a long block for that much. lol

your better off repairing the head gasket on your sohc...because that idea will not do anything,it will produce around 125 hp maybe less.a nonvtec b18a/b makes 140 hp and the torque from the long stroked crank,a b16 stroke is tiny tiny making next to nothing with the the crappy b18a head....the idea is hopeless....also if you really look around, you will come across a crack head deal.....,or sell or trade the b16 bottom for a b18a/b bottom....that the best option,i caould say

Well, that for sure would be a new swap... a way to lower the tourqe, and lower the HP! heh

yeah all that may be true, but the block for the sohc is warped, and I would have to pull it out and remove the pistions and send the sohc block to get reserfaced, that alone will bee like 300, Im just puting the B18 head on the b16 block for right now, I plan to get a B16 head later, but as for now that's all I got, so that's why I wanted to know if it would work. I don't really care about if it's more power then my old D16y8, I just want that bitch to run lol. so I hope it will work cuz that's all I got to swap in it right now.

i agree with drunknbass.

I thought about this swap before, seeing as how you can find the leftovers of someone's LS VTEC swap for pretty cheap. hog out the LS head and get some fatty cams and rev it to 9,000 all day long :D

or, you could turbo it, and have a 1.6L DOHC but with stronger internals and the ability to rev to 9k with proper valvetrain.

I'm not saying that it should be your preferred engine, but im sure it has possibility
