installed a aem short ram on my rsx-s, sounds like **** when i hit vtec. like a grindy noise. suggestions?

 

check for clearence maybe its hitting something..is it a metal on metal sound?

 

A grindy noise when you hit ivtec...take it off and put youre stock one back on to see if it does it with youre stock intake. If it doesnt then something might be wrong with the AEM intake.

 

it was fine with stock. like a grinding raspy noise. clerance is fine.

 

maybe it is the sound of it sucking more air? not saying it is but is that possible?

my car kinda sounds like that when its not warmed up

 

sounds like vibrations maybe or you just dont know how an intake sounds

 

ya i know how its suppose to sound.... riddin in my friends rsx with aem sri.

back to stock i go =/

 

omfg your going to ditch the performance intake for the oem one because you dont like the sound?

That is pretty ridiculous that you want to go back to OEM just cause the sound isn't right.... try to find out what is making the noise first and give it some thought. My CAI was loud as ****, i never heard an intake that loud before but it was ok. Don't give up the ship though

 

Does your friend also have an exhaust? That mellows out the sound quite a bit... I have the AEM sri too, it gets loud as hell in higher rpms... I'll just deal with it til I have $680 for the Mugen box...
