Has anyone ever done LSVTEC w/TD05H-18G Greddy kit?
I already have the kit on my B16A, and plan on doing an LSVTEC build. My goals are 300-350whp, because it's just for the street. Last night I searched all the posts about Precision turbos and have never been so confused.
So, I'm pretty sure I'll just stick with the Greddy. If someone has done this setup I'd like to hear about your experiences, horsepower, torque, and boost setting.
If someone disagrees with my decision, please tell me why. Even if I would get a Precision, I can't see myself getting an SC61, and might end up with a turbo similar in spec to the Greddy anyway. BTW, does anyone know what turbo in the Precision lineup would compare to the TDO5H-18G?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I've got a friend with that setup in a 2000 Civic Si (SiR here in Canada)
he runs about 9 lbs on it and does high 12s
not sure bout dyno numbers but that thing really hauls under vtec/boost

if it's running good on your current motor, i dont see any reason why it wouldn't work w/ your ls block. the 1.8 block is a tad taller, but i doubt it's enough to cause you any major fitiment issues

9lbs with a Greddy and he does high 12s? That's awesome. I'll be running more boost though. I just want to verify that it's a Greddy, thanks man!
I'm thinking about having a sleeved 2.0 built for some more low end torque, but it's $1000 more. Think this is worth it?
Thanks for the replies! Keep 'em coming!

Because that's what I have on the car now. Would it really be THAT bad? I realize that most of the people on this forum are racers, but this is just a street car. I hate the B16A. It's like an on/off switch. LSVTECs are known for their torque. I'm just trying to find out what the results would be. What about the DSM guys running 16g turbos and getting good power? This is an 18G and although it's no SC61, it's still not that small. I don't get it.
Please keep in mind that I haven't made up my mind yet. I still may get a Precision, but need to know why. I don't need 400+hp.

pm allmotorteg_96 on here he had a ls/vtec with the 18g ran it with stock internals and stock cat and a stock clutch it rode nicely on 8psi with his setup. It would have ran better if he would have done minor upgrades.
i ran this setup. I ran about 7 psi on stock everything. It had a redline of 8200. I never dynod it but i know it was more then 220 hp. i dont know about the tq, but the stock clutch could not handle it. it ran with a few of the srt-4s around here. One of them ran 9.1 in the 1/8. this setup was not tuned either but it did have a chipped ecu. With exhaust clutch and tires it would have been in the 8s very easilly
why do all that work and money when you could get 300 whp outta the b16 cheaper.. If you get it tuned well I bet it could happen on a stock motor.

Because I want more torque. B16A shortblocks are worthless. 300whp on a Greddy B16A isn't going to happen. B18C shortblocks are more expensive (this was my original plan-poor man's type r). 350 on the street seems like more than enough to me. The way my car is now even with a Quaife LSD...Spin through 1st, hop and spin through 2nd, chirp 3rd, then it doesn't really push you back in the seat. What's the fun in that? Besides, I'd rather build the bottom end so it can safely handle high boost. I already spent $400 for tuning. I'm not impressed. The only thing I ever liked about my B16A was the great sounds it made stock. If my car had an LS engine, I'd just build that, but I have VTEC and might as well use it, along with the parts I already bought.

I have a 18G on my ITR. it runs well and if you are doin high 12's on 9psi you are on slicks.. I run 1 bar on the track with the 18g and my times are in my sig. it has a inline pro HG so it is about 9.6:1 compression.....baseline dyno on the car with a POS AFC hack the car put down 192wtq with no trouble with a 10:1 af ratio across the board
What happened to it?
im just trying to up grade there is no end to this. If u make 200hp then after awhile u want 250hp then more and more. It will never end now that you have tasted boost.

now u just need to get a real tune i had a hack before i chiped my ecu and it is night and day differance.

the hack is gone. a FMU is a million times better with the 450's than manipulating the map sensor. you can also run more boost on the fmu and 450's.
I have a hondata just no enough cash to get it installed so that is next on the list

Good times with the Greddy. I really wonder if Hondata would make that much of a difference other than driveability for you? How much boost are you running?
about .9 bar daily. 1.1 at the track. my af ratio is very rich with the FMU so the Hondata should help a lot.
