Anyone have experience with Soundstream Rubicon Lil Wonder
I want to upgrade my 4 channel amp. I am currently running a us acoustics amp and would like to move up to something that will give me better sound quality and less distortion.
I came across the Soundstream Rubicon Lil Wonder. The specs they give are funny....but don't answer my questions.
Anyone have any feedback on this amp or this brand?????

well, with my extensive experience with Soundstream, here are the specs:

THD: You can’t hear it
Dimensions Lil’ Wonder:
36” x 24” x 36”
(just kidding, 7” x 11 318” x 2 l/4”)
Dimensions Lil’ Wonder 4:
44” x 24” x 24”
(just kidding, 11” x 11 318” x 2 l/4”)
in other words, i dont know the true specs either... however, i have worked on one about a year ago, and although i was not taking extensive notes of what i fixed at that time, i do remember being quite impressed for such a small amp. that and also the Soundstream Angina sub amp ( about 6 x 5 inches )
they package quite a bit in such a small space, but do it very well. no PC Board real estate wasted at all. the actual circuits are just as extensive as an amp of a different brand, but twice as large. the soldering on all Soundstream amps are top notch.
the LW4 has a multi FET circuit... i dont remember the FET type or number per channel, but i do know it is not a single N channel, P channel FET design like a lot of lower line amps these days. it is definatly not a cheaply built amp. all the components are of very good quality.
the Hawkins Bass Control is pretty wonderful... makes the bass very adjustable, and can make speakers sound much bigger than they really are.
i do remember this amp to be pretty clean sounding too, all the way to clipping. sure, like most amps, there is a point that the sound quality degrades, but it's less noticable in the LW4.
it does crank up pretty good... there is a lot more powerful Rubicon amps though, but i do remember that there was a fair amount of power. if you want to split your eardrums, this wont do it... but it does do a good job of a pretty decent power level, and clean sound.
i mentioned the Angina sub amp at the start of this... thats because both the Angina and the LW are built very alike each other. the Angina, like i mentioned, is about 5 x 6 inches. 200 watts RMS mono, and i really think that was a conservative rating. just for fun, i hooked it up to 2 JL 12's, and i remember my friends reaction when he heard it... "ehhh ? that little thing is making all that bass ???" he was in disbelief, just as i was. not loud enough to shake fillings loose, but the quality of the bass was very surprising indeed, plus, it will fit in your glove box.
these were not cheap amps... but because Soundstream has new owners now, and these were last years models, ( old owner ) you can get them for about half price or less now. good deal.
not much info, but i hope it helps.
