Overheating 92 Honda Accord...Please Help
Hi i have a 92 honda accord EX. I have an overheating problem. Here's what i done so far. I just change the head gasket, new therostat, Flush the Radiator system, new radiator fluids, change the radiator hose, check for leaks (so far no leaks) and change the temp sensor. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong.... Please help....Thanks

Timing belt driven, if it is seized the belt will brake.
Honda therm? Fan works?

Was your car fine one day and the next day it overheated? When does your car overheat? I have had a problem with a non-oem thermostat from kragen, is your new thermostat a Honda OEM part?
No i didnt thing about changing the radiator sensor. but i will. The car when i start it up, the temp jumps to half right away. then it works itself up slowly, even without driving. How can you tell if the water pump gone bad without it leaking??. And bout the thermostat. it not OEM i got it from AutoZone. I ran the car without the thermostat before to see if that would solve the problem, but it still overheated..

If the car's been off for hours, completely cold, does the temperature gauge instantly jump to mid-scale? If so, it sounds like your gauge, wiring, or sender is bad.
That's too fast. My suspicions are with a bad temperature measurement.
Bad wiring? Bad gauge? Circuit drawing or a repair book would say how to check.
Might be a bad sender for the gauge, you test that my measuring resistance while heating it in a pot of water (with a thermometer). But you said you already replaced that? Did you replace the sender for the temperature gauge or the sensor for the ECU? In my cars they're not the same sensors.

Here's something i notice, While im flushing the radiator system. when i put the water hose in the radiator while the engine runs. the temp stays a half, but when i put the radiator hoses and cap back on it heat up.

In my '95 integra & '98 Accord they're like this...
Radiator fan switch is in the thermostat housing (lower hose). 2-wire plug.
The other 2 are in the head, near the upper hose nozzle:
Temperature sensor for ECU has a 2-wire plug.
Sender for dashboard temperature gauge has only 1 wire.

Make sure your overflow cap is screwed on good and tight. True story:
Took my '91 EX wagon in for (you guessed it) overheating. They replaced the thermostat. Still overheating. They did a timing belt and water pump (necessary since I had just bought an almost 200K car with no maintenance records or other provenance- would have done within a couple weeks anyway) Car ran fine for a couple of days UNTIL we took a trip to Atlanta. About halfway there, it starts OVERHEATING.
Turned off the air, opened the windows, turned the heat all the way up and kept going. Stopped every fifty miles or so from then on just on general principle. Checked all fluids every stop to be sure. LAST stop before Atlanta, I discovered the overflow cap was just lying there loose. Screwed it back on tight, and no problems since! That does include a LOT of subsequent driving and a couple of trips. (This was all two months ago...)
The lesson: Replace your radiator cap just on general principle, and make sure your overflow lid is screwed down good and TIGHT!
I love my Accord!

To check the gauge turn on the car, pull the wire off the unit and ground it. If the gauge reads the max it should be good. The sensor is right below the distributor on my 92 lx.
Let me know if you are still having problems.
