Default ITR vs. Prelude

Since I wrecked my '95 Prelude VTEC, I'm thinking about buying another 95-96 VTEC Prelude or move to the '98 ITR. How would you compare them?

Search it...depends on what you want honestly. They're both nice cars, but they are different. Decide what you want, then get it...but don't fall for the hype of the R or the h22.

Preludes are nice, I love the dash in that generation

How do the ITR's handle higher milages? I could buy something between 55000 to 70000 miles. Does the engine stand this milage? Or are there any problems?

HP to Weight ratio and good balance...I would think the ITR wins that one...
Would anyone disagree with on that or no???

I know that ITR will drive more better that Prelude. But how does ITR run as a daily driver, long highway trips etc? Any problems with the engine with this using?

BTW what is the gearing of the 5th gear? RPM at let's say 60 and 100 mph?

I've owned a 96 GSR, 97 Prelude, and now a 98 ITR. The prelude is a good daily driver, and is torqey enough to keep you from down shifting as much around town. I really liked mine, but both the GSR, and especially the ITR blow it away performance wise. The Prelude seemed to just be too heavy to be quick, but probably the most driver friendly of the three. I know this is an ITR forum, but truthfully, if you get an ITR you'll never look back,... except at the first Prelude you race!

Yes, I understand, but what about the engine reliability? I mean, I drove the Prelude very hard, tracked the car with 100% time in VTEC and nothing failed. I am used to check and add the oil every week, so I don't care about oil burning etc, I know this is normal.

A friend of mine drives a Prelude and I love them. Classy looking and performs well. And nicer on long trips: cruise control, sound insulation, etc.
But try getting a mountain bike in the back of one

Hatchback > trunk

You're in NY.. you should know you can't park any cars anywhere... especially in Queens and NYC area.... at least from my experience... then add on it's Honda's. My friends stock civic coupe was stolen and recently so was my Accord.... sigh. Maybe it's just me, since I didn't have much security on my cars.

Your decision comes down to this:
1. Are you willing to live with people trying to steal your car? ITR is the most stolen car out there.
2. Do you care about getting attention? ITR gets you too much attention at times.
3. How important is performance. The ITR was created as a street legal race ready car. It performs as such.
