Default Opinions on roller rocker set-ups....

I am thinking about roller rockers for the new engine head set-up...I know that it will eliminate vtec but I want to see what kind of options I have. My cam choice might change as a result to running roller rockers. I think for now I am staying all motor too so keep that into consideration...Thanks for any info shared...lets hear it!

before you do all that do to toda's website and check out the vtec killer cams its basiclly the setup you want but just no roller rockers. I agree roller rockers help with friction in the motor though.

Remember, you can't just add roller rockers onto your stock cam as it changes the specs of the cam completely. Opening points, closing points, duration, overlap and rate of lift will change. You must use a cam ground especially for roller rockers and I don't know if there are a lot of those floating around.

Yes I know this, luckily I have not purchased cams yet.

Actually those VTEC killer cams are a pretty good invention...it is based on the same idea...but I am interested in those roller rockers, I am thinking you can get more power throughout...something the todas don't offer.

ferrea makes the roller set up for like 1200, im not sure if it comes with cams, crane makes the whole setup, i think ferrea makes there rockers.

i have heard its not for street use though, and ive heard that normal rockers are better for hondas.

Roller Rockers are a replacement rocker arm for your head. They are what connects the cam to the valve stem. The roller rockers adds a roller on the ends of it to help eliminate friction, thus allowing you to run higher RPMs. The thing about the current generation of roller rockers is that they only operate on your high profile of your cam, what you might refer to as your VTEC lobe. You will always run in the VTEC mode. This will kill your bottom end, and your gas mileage. It is beneficial to race only vehicles, because they stay in the high RPM range.

I would wait a while if you are planning on getting these for a street car. I have spoke with Crane, and they told me they are going to have a set out by the middle of 2002 that will work for street cars. It will operate on both cam profiles.

You are right, If I were to be using this on the street it wouldn't be a good option. But this engine is for an all motor drag car...that is why I am toying with the idea.
