advance timing
today i was advancing my timing and i noticed that when i advanced it(turned it toward the firewall and test drove it the car ran like crap. when i retarded it, it ran a whole lost better . does anyone know what the problem might be.

Yeah, how many degrees did you advance your timing?? Also, did you use a timing gun?

i did not use a timing gun but still y would it run better when i retard it. i'm not advancing it all the way. i am going to get a timing gun today but if any one knows the answer to the first question i owuld like to know.

Because "retarding" may not actually be retarding it. Your not using a timing gun so you have no idea if the timing is actually retarded when the dizzy is rotated all the way to full retard, it could in fact be 16* timing in that position.
