I recently swapped a b18c1 into my 97 hacth. There is a loud ticking, or fluttering sound (like when you used to put baseball cards in your bike spokes as a kid )It only starts around 1/4 throttle and gets louder the more I press it in. The ticking has nothing to do with rpm or speed, just the throttle. I've heard the stock injectors tick, but the sound is loud when driving with the windows down. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

 

Is there enough oil in the engine?

 

sounds like my exhaust leak on my old mustang. I say check your headers make sure they're bolted snug. Thats the only insight I got.

 

I don't think its an exhaust leak since it gets louder according to throttle position, not rpms or speed. My oil level is also fine... on the top dot.

 

try doing a valve adjustment and see if it goes away.

 

a "tink" is metal to metal not a "pssst" that an exhausts leaks make. be concerned!!!
