Default overheating question

I recently transferred a b16 swap from one crx to another, and now it seems like i am having a problem. Prior to the swap, i drove the car for a year with no probs at all. I noticed it only overheats if i've been idling for a while, and the temp will go down if i start moving again. Also, i don't ever hear or see my fan comming on, so my question is can the fan make THAT much of a difference?

Fan is hooked up, but the condenser fan fuse may be blown or the fan switch relay may be faulty. Flushing your radiator is a start, so have that done first and see if there are any other problems. I can say that having a working fan is great so that you'll avoid over heating. The only other cause that I can think of (if the fan works) would be a faulty thermostat. Good luck!!

Theres a good chance its the fan switch in the back of the block (is that where they are on b16's too?) I had mine go bad and the car would overheat at stops or really slow traffic. I just wired the two wires together so the fan was on whenever the car was on. No problems ever since.

Yeah the actual plugs are white, but theres a yellow and a black wire (if I remember correctly) coming out of those. That's the temp switch. You can take those off and connect them (with a paperclip running from one plug to the other, or with a small piece of wire) then turn your ignition to the "ON" position.

If the fan starts spinning, the switch is bad. You can either hardwire those two wires together and have your fan on whenever the car is on, or replace the switch and have it operate like normal.
