Default Question - b18c5 shortblock with gsr head & ITR springs & cams OR stock itr head?

So here is my question:

I am trying to build myself a decent motor for my 1996 GSR that I destroyed the bottom end in.

This car is a daily driver for me and will not be seeing any time on the track. I just want to make it as fast and fun to drive as I can while I'm at it.
I'm trying to end up with a motor that is strong over the normal RPM range - not just at 8000 RPM.

I already have a b18c5 short block coming from 'Itrboy' - hopefully I will have it soon.

Here are two options that I am considering right now:

Option 1: put ITR springs / retainers / and 2001 ITR intake and exhaust cams in my stock GSR head. Use my stock GSR IM (I think its better for low end and mid range HP & torque than the skunk 2 IM?) Get some type of odb1 conversion chipped ecu. Ahh - but now I think that I will be screwed because I wont be able to operate the butterflies on the gsr im with a odb1 conversion and a chipped ecu?

Option 2: sell my gsr head and find a 2000 - 2001 ITR head with stock cams. Use the stock ITR IM and my GSR throttle body. Use a stock ITR odb2 ecu.

Thoughts?
Any ideas for something different that would be an improvement?
Thanks

in my opinion honestly i would use the gsr head since it will yield more compression on ya setup which will give significant benefits over a stock itr motor ...if u go the stock b18c5 block with a stock itr all you are in the end is an itr long block correct? and yield compression of 10.6:1 but with a GSr head approx. 10.84:1 get better gains for the cams...just run a skunk2 im

thats my opinion stay GSR head...

then run a skunk2 chipped p28 and your good to go vtec will sing

plus gettin an itr head will be quite pricey too

The way that I look at it, I think that I will have similar money tied up into either case. Assuming that the two are equal money (I can sell my stock GSR head / IM for money to buy the ITR head) - would you still choose the GSR head?

My thinking was that the ITR head setup would be more reliable since the ECU would be stock, and like you said, I would essentially have an ITR longblock - which is fairly impressive compared to the stock GSR motor. But - what kind of numbers would you expect to see from the GSR head setup compared to the ITR? I will also be adding headers / cat back performance exhaust in either case.

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to ecu's and I am a bit turned off to the chipped obd1 ecus because I have heard people complaining about erratic idling and cold start issues... Anyone have no issues at all with chipped ecus? Is there a certain 'one' to have that is better than another in this regard?

Do the chipped ecus hurt your gas mileage much?
Thanks

I have ITR springs, retainers and valves in my GSR head. to go along with my skunk 2 stage 1 cams and skunk 2 IM . I love it. Might think of doing that. although youll need a 3 angle valve job so the ITR valves seat right

FYI:

GSR and ITR valve spring retainers are identical. Get Skunk2 Titanium spring retainers to save valve train weight.

GSR Dual intake springs = ITR dual exhaust springs

GSR exhaust valves = ITR exhaust valves

Get the ITR intake valves for your GSR head.

I would keep your GSR head and built it, all new valves/ cams/and maybe a port and polish?? i would conciter it , its not that expensive compaired to a new head and it will be a good strong GSR head
