Default VTEC lag

anybody know of a big dip in their power curve when vtec kicks in? is there anyway of fixing it? is it a fuel issue, or adjusting the cams?

do you have aftermarket cams in your car?
If thats the case your gonna need to bump the vtec xover up a couple hundred rpms or so, either w/ a chip or vtec controller. adjustable cam gears wont hurt either.

I just put ITR cams in my car without tuning them and there is quite a big dip just before vtec. I just have to save up some money for cam gears and bump up my vtec x-over.

is that what you've encountered before as well? i find it quite odd that there would be such a big dip.

Vtec dip is common if you change the cams or timing. Move you vtec activation up a few hundred rpm ... tune it on a dyno and you should be able to smoothen it out.
