Default Rad/Oil Cooler question

The rad in my 95 RS 5speed blew on my way to work. i sourced the part and fixed it there.

however installing the new rad in, i realized it had two brass fittings at the bottom, which were capped off. looking at the old rad, i noticed the same holes were present, but welded shut (on another aftermarket rad).

because these were high-pressure fittings, i'm under the impression they are to run an oil cooler or tranny cooler line (the rad was for either auto or 5sp car).

can anyone confirm 100% what these fittings are for? i just dont want my car pissing coolant all over the road again

Most aftermarket radiator have those. It's for the tranny cooler on automatic cars. If you have a 5speed then you can just leave those alone.
