Default high RPM misfire!!!

i have a d16y8 in a civic, i just put one of those msd extreme power dist. caps and an msd blaster 2 coil... since then i have come into a couple of problems, the only one i cant get fixxed is the misfire.. when its in wide throttle and at about 55 56 hundred Rs it starts to misfire.. real bad! any clue as to why, i tired advancing the timing, retarding the timing, cant figure it out. i only have the dist cap, and the coil. the coil is hooked up from the factory coil hook up; the wires that went to the factory coil i just made longer and hooked to the msd coil.... could this be causing the misfire... do i need to get an msd sci or something al6/7 ? in theroy it should work wired right from the factory coil but, im not a rocket scientist, just a wrench turner...
i tired adjusting the air fuel mix. via an vafc2, but it didnt make a diff...

any ideas???

Are you confusing misfire with detonation?

could very well be detonation... the comp throw misfire codes and if you keep on the gas pedal it will back fire! thats when it throws the codes.... if it was det. wouldnt adjusting the fuel stop that, or is from just the high power jumping around in the distrib causing the det.(if it is det. )

does it cut out at high rpms, it might be the ground wires

another thing i noticed is that it will run perfect right after start, when the engine is still cold... as soon as it warms up and i try to run through the gears i get to 55 hundred and it boggs and back fires... gotta be detonation.. as far as i can tell it doesnt cut out bog, or seem to lose power untill it hits that 5500 rpm.. if you get it to go past that point (which i only did once to see if it kept bogging and backfiring) it gets worse thats when the codes come on

did you solder the wires that can be very important on high speed voltage transfering wires. make sure to check your grounds for ign. syst. very very important i.e. ohm check and voltage drop. check coil wire resistance max 1000hms per foot 200-300 great. and last check make sure that the cap is not cracked or does not have carbon tracking inside it. spark missing the contact to the wires . hope this helps

i did solder the wires on the inducer inside the dist. i also put two layers of heat shrink tubing on them( i was kinda planning adhead cuz i didnt know if they would arc inside the dist.) but when i connected them to the msd coil i used terminals (crimped) . which wires should i check the resistance on, the coil to dist. cap wire, the spark plug wires, or the wires from inside the dist. to the coil? or all ?.. also should i ground the coil to the chassis? i am using the ground from inside the dist.

Dont want to jump too much off topic but a friend of mine has a similar problem with his 92 LS.. At high RPM the car will start to break up and the exhaust will start "popping."

I think it has something to do with the distributor because he changed the cap and it got a bit better..Before the new cap it used to randomly break up, most of the time right when he started it up and until it got to normal operating temp. Now it only breaks up at high rpm...

Maybe someone knows whats going on here.. thanks

I have the same problem with a b16 stock dizzy no msd system. Car runs great on the track for 5 laps then it starts to break up at 5500 to 6000 rpms and won't go faster. It's like it's hitting a rev limiter. But it only does it after car is warm. Replaced plugs and wires both ngk and completely new dizzy from auto zone. Haven't been able to solve it in 5 weeks now. Went through the entire wire harness everything looks good. Interest in what solves it for you. I thin my problem is the auto zone dissy. I think I gotta go oem.
