Default B20 Vtec Upgrade

I have a b16a/b20b motor that is starting to smoke when pulling away hard, planning to rebuild it to be stronger. I would like any recomendations from anyone who has done this, esp' on upgrading parts of the rotating assembly.

get new pistons and rods that relocate the wrist pin up to yield better r/s ratio

Keep compression 11 or below if retaining stock sleeves. Make sure you tune it right from the beginning w/ no detonation because the sleeves won't handle any of that.

ok I've been looking around for sets of rods and pistons. So far from what I've read JE pistons are the way forward, with maybe a set of their h - beam rods? I've seen some kits available that come with the two together with pins and rings. These are all in the states and I'm in the UK so I need to be certail before I shell out all my cash.

Also, is likely that I'll need to rebore the block and go for an 85mm?

the most you'll need to bore is .002" you wont need to go an entire millimeter. this is only if the walls have scars on them. I suggest you take your motor apart and find out what parts you need prior to ordering them.

if he goes aftermarket pistons he will have to go .5 mm overbore.....if he goes stock oversized pistons he can go .25 mm over.....

.002 inches isn't very much.....
