I just picked up a set of SSR RS8s for my EJ coupe and i'm running 205/45/16 es100 right now. I would like to purchase a set of falken azenis for the track, the thing that sucks is that falken don't offer 205/45 series tires for 16" rims (they offer 205/55 and 215/45).
I was wondering if it'll be safe to run the 215/45/16 azenis without causing any inherent problem such as tire rubbing, etc. etc.

Will it bulge out a lot? if mounted on a 6.5 wide rim?

Look at the specs for the tire published on Falken's website. They'll have an "approved rim width" range... basically, the range of wheel widths that Falken considers good enough that they'll still honor the warranty on the tire.

 

a 215 will fit on a 6.5" rim fine. it may bulge a little bit, and it would be better on a 7" rim but it should be ok.

as far as rubbing, i have no idea what the wheel wells are like on an EJ, but if 205's fit with some clearance the 215's should be fine.

 

They'll fit, but expect the tire shop to tell you not to come back

 

yes, it wil fit, but will bulge, look like butt, and have a more roll-ey sidewall.

 

I mounted 225/50/13 Hoosier AS04s yesterday on a 13x5 so you should have no problem.
