Knocking sounds like diesel after warm up wiesco on eagle rods Help!
Here I Go, Just built b18c1 with wiseco pistons and Eagle rods. At first start up it sounded horrible but after adjusting the valve lash it sounds much better. Now I hear a more distinct knocking it sounds if it's coming from the bottom end. When installing the pistons wiseco's have a piston offset is it possible the I put them in opposite. I did use a caliper to make sure what side the offset was on but it's still possible. I don't know what else to do. Any thoughts? Thanks guys
the density of the Wiseco pistons, the diferent building process gives the material a diferrent granular and crystal structure (cast pistons vs forged pistons) so the diferent material interacting with the cylinder walls makes different noises... some people complain about the "rough" and clunky (like there's no oil) sound of the forged pistons... thats the reason why when you put forged pistons or diferent pistons, the knock sensor (in the blocks that come with that feature) is disabled because the new sound can fool the ECU into thinking there's knocking when not!
But, does that eventually Go away? I know piston slap is suppose to go away after warm up. My sisters fiance, has a 91 Talon we dropped wiseco's in it and it sounds like stock pistons. I'll try to post a sound file.
