A little help with a suspension choice for the Del Sol
Sometime before next weekend I want to pick up a set of Progress CS-1 coilovers ( the rebuildable spec ) and rear sway bar for the Del Sol they had some impressive numbers posted handling wise for the Del Sol but since it is alot of money for me right now I was wondering if the 1300 bux is better spent on another brand ?
I've had a whole bunch of different set ups over the years and right now I just want something that for the money and my ability to work with is the best thx.

How is there customer service? Are they willing to work with you, to find a setup that works for your needs? These two things alone are well worth the extra cost. Based upon your signature, I am assuming you are located in the LA area or at least Socal; which means they are local. If you need custom valving you can just drop them off, instead of having to ship them out somewhere.
What will you be doing with the car? i.e. autox, hpde, drag, etc..... What features do you want out of a coilover? Does their kit fit all those criterias?
Just my $.02

We just bought the koni/GC setup with 550/700lbs springs, and ST sway bars. The front bar is a little stiff, but the ride and handling was excellent. The by-pass at thunderhill has always been a problem for us with bottoming out at the bottom, or excessive bouncing, but this setup ran great on the del sol right out of the box. We are going to revalve the shocks soon, and get a stock front sway bar, but still, the numbers don't lie:
2:11.10s at Thunderhill w/bypass. temp 92. Weight 2320lbs, VTEC broken. 40psi oil pressure
(sick engine)
I'd say the car handled well.

There customer service has always been good when I've bought stuff in the past, and they were the only company that had skid pad ect numbers actually posted for the Sol - the new site does'nt have these any more
holly poo poo your time is faster than the spoon accord and just 6 secs slower than the Esses EP3

not all are slow. Lots of different del sol models. This is the 93 si. Has the D16z6 in it. There are lots of crappy heavy 1.5 liters out there, hence the term "del slow".
all the Nor Cal HC cars are getting faster. Soon someone might take notice of us. We got 4th place with that time...

As a Progress Dealer here in NE Ohio, I can tell you that is money well spent.
Jeff knows what he is doing, and with the company being in "Anaslime", your close enough to get the valving changed if need be.
I have used their stuff for 4 years now, rear bar included, the adjustable one.
I can tell you that winning my H4 championship here last year, was definately a result of what the guys at Progress gave me to run. I passed guys at Mid Ohio (like thunderhill, fast, off camber corners), in places they never expected, because my crx would handle like a freight train in the corners.
You can't go wrong with Progress, their advice is golden, and the price is a bit steep, but the warranty is a lifetime, and rebuilds are going to tell you what you need to know, try that with any other shock but a koni and your "savings" from a cheaper, excuse me, lower cost shock, is out the window.
I have in car video to prove my point, if you need it. Video doesn't lie!

hey now I have the crappy slow 1.5L but now it's pretty svelte with a much better choice of gearing and some basic go fast goodies, but thanks for the responses it sure makes it easier with second oppinions like that
