R&D Motorsports
So, after starting that "Mugen Hate" thread and getting lots of responses, I decided to combine 92TypeR and Cosworth's ideas into one, and will be getting the following setup:
Toda 4-2-1 Header
T1R Catback Exhaust
T1R Resonated Test Pipe
I called King Motorsports today, and ordered the Toda Header and while at it, ordered a Toda LTW Flywheel as well. I've done business with those guys before, most recently the Lowdowns, and they've always been great. Can't wait to get my parts.
I was going to call R&D, and order the T1R stuff, since they have it on sale under the Specials section. The Exhaust + Test Pipe together run me $740, which is a savings of $160. But just as I was going to do this, I saw this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=819046
I'm very concerned. Lots of unsatisfied customers, getting incomplete or incorrect orders, others still waiting after having ordered for many months. The website indicates the parts are "In Stock" and "Ready to Ship", but according to the thread, they say that to everyone, assuming AJ will get them the parts. I need my parts ASAP.
I think this is messed up. So, if the R&D thing doesn't work out, is there any other place I can get the T1Rs? If not, I need another 2.5" exhaust + test pipe recommendation to go with my Toda header. FWIW, I really want the T1R exhaust.

Atilla, unfortunately AJ is the only distributor for T1R in the U.S. So finding another source is next to impossible. Both IPS and R&D get their stock from AJ-R when it comes to T1R, so contacting all three to see who has the pieces ready to ship is your best bet. Good luck.
Yup, you're better off getting the T1R stuff from AJR. It's kinda silly to order from R&D in SC, when you're 2 hours from AJR.
BTW, you could probably get Fujitsubo RM-01A from Leo for around $700 shipped... but, don't quote me on that. IMHO, Fujitsubo has way better quality (manufacturing specification) than T1R.

I've never compared them side-by-side, so I dunno which makes more power. But, I remember reading .CN's post where his RM-01A made some gazillion HP over stock unit. I doubt there would be a huge HP difference between the two. (less than 5hp on a dyno is negligible IMHO)

2.38" VS 2.5" may not seem like a huge difference, but its there. IMO it was hit and miss with the first batch of T1R's when it came to fitment issues. Now that those issues have been delt with, the system is one of the best manufactured ones out.
Here are a couple pics of the T1R before it was installed on my car. I would compare the welds and bending to that of the RM01A.
BTW when are you going to be in town again Sean?

fsoBB- either would be great for your needs.
p.s. boomplustoys carry Fujitsubo.

Ive been running some searches on the t1r exhaust system. Through the searches I have discovered that its a beautifully crafted 2.5" pre fabbed exhaust system that yields nice gains. Although I am a bit confused where t1r was originated from. http://www.typeone.jp (right next to spoon, notice its only type1 and no racing) and http://www.typeoneracing.com (aka AJ-R). Not that it matters but id like to know, im leaning towards that its AJ-R's creation. If randdmotors dont come thru you might want to consider a 2.5" hytech exhaust system. Thats what im planning to get.
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about waiting a long time for mine....
I ordered from IPS, took three months to get my T1R finally.... Can't Blame IPS though, Mike came thru for me....
Apparently AJR was shipping them with insufficient packaging protection, two orders were damaged when they arrived at IPS...
Finally Mike came thru for me, asked AJR to beefup their packaging, and send the exhaust to me directly.
finally got it after 3 months of waiting.
Love the Exhaust, really Bling Bling, and matches my Spoon Titanium shift ****
only complaint, the hangers are weird, if you use the original hangers, it sits too high touching the bumper.... so I used the lower hangers and shorter Rubber bushing things.... It's great now.... weird thing is, I don't even know which version of the exhaust I have
I thought they corrected these problems with the earlier ones??? Mine has no AJR plaque on the bottom, and I ordered it supposedly when those were shipping.
To sum it up... Great exhaust, (weird hangers for mine) Took a while to get it, but at least I can tell you, if you order from Mike at IPS you will get it
, even if it takes a while... (probalby AJ's fault) Not sure if it will be any better if you order straight from AJ themselves... Best thing is to call see if they have it in stock, if they do order, if not, you'll have to chance it, if you really want it.

AJ produces the T1R stuff, they are not a "distributor" for T1R. The "distributors" are resellers like IPS and R&D.

Oh the T1R is louder by far, [remembering when the hearing came back to me 30 minutes after Edwin rolled me at the Glen].
Why which are you interested in? I'm almost done with my fartcan and am again looking into "quieter" catbacks. I always liked the Fujibuzzzzzzio. Maybe we should call Leo?
On a different note fso_BamBam, I think a better way to address your concerns and questions would have been to contact Dave or Chad instead of starting a post and titling it R&D motorsports and wondering out loud about possible issues.
Anton - who always thinks it's best to go right to the source instead of speculating and getting others in a hizzy.
R&D has Always done right by me, provided great deals, and been very forthcoming with all information and issues.

Got my T1R exhaust about a week ago and love it. Great sound. Not bad on the highway when just cruising. I picked it up from R&D and Dave did a great job. Even held over the sale price for me. I took a little bit longer to get (10 days compared to 5) but it showed up the exact day he told me it would once it was shipped. Will certainly order from them in the future. As for the fit it went right on without a single problem

The main problem with the T1R stuff is supply. This is a limited production exhaust and therefore when the shipment comes in, most are taken when back orders are filled. Of course, this make the resellers look like we are the ones dragging our feet when we, in fact, are also just waiting on the shipment. Regardless, I still stand behind the T1R stuff. I think its one of the best exhaust systems in terms of fitment - this should all be behind us now -, sound - this things just sings with little to no resonance - and overall quality - nice welds and good material.
My only gripe is the quantity brought in, but there is not much we can do about that, as it is not a mass produced piece, which actually contributes to the quality.
Also, please keep in mind that problems do arise. No one is exempt from them, including us. When they do occur, we do our damndest to straighten them out!

Just had a nice, long conversation with Dave. When I first made this post I really didn't intend to offend anyone, just wanted a few answers. And I'm glad I had the chance to clear everything up with him.
Ordered the T1R Full Cat Back Exhaust + T1R Resonated Resonated Test Pipe, and still got the discount. Thanks Dave and R&D Motorsports. I have a feeling that I'll be coming back for more for future car needs. Especially the ATS 4.9 Final Drive, that looks to be next on my list.

Hey Dave, nice talking to you! Looking forward to getting the parts and putting them on. And thanks for that tip on the Lowdowns, I'll definitely be doing some playing around with the setup on my next track day!
