Default Oil pan gasket, b-series

Last week, I put baffels in my oil pan, and thus, put a new gasket on it. I went to Gingerman raceway (roadcourse), and then later pissed oil all over the track. I then limped to the parts store and picked up a case of oil. After 3 hours, and 4qts of oil, I made it home.

Anyways, I am going to try this again. I picked up a new gasket. While I was at honda, I talked to one of the techs, and he reccomended NOT to use hondabond. I did last time. Maybe this is what happened?

What do you guys think? Hondabond, yes or no?

If you plan to use hondabond, only put a small drop on the 4 corners of the oil pan gasket to keep it in place. If you put it on the whole gasket, the gasket may not seal properly.

I didn't use hondabond for my gasket and its not leaking. So I guess I will have to say No to hondabond.

Nearly hand tightened nuts is the key to Honda pan gaskets. Juuust barely tightened and it won't leak, but with just a bit too much it'll **** oil everywhere.

A few dabs of Honda Bond cover the seam between the block and the oil pump and I think at rear of the engine too. Just the seam not all over the gasket. However the seam is so tight that if you forget the honda bond it'll probably be alright.

Buy a nice 3/8" drive torque wrench and tighten to spec., Sears has a nice one. Did mine earlier this year and it's nice and dry.

You can also get good results using a 1/4" drive ratchet and snugging it down. Mine hasn't leaked a drop. Cheaper than a torque wrench, if that sort of thing matters to you.
