Right price to pay for valve spring / lma install? or somebody in bay area want to help?
hey can somebody help me out with an accurate labor price for installation of valve springs / retainers / lost motion assemblies? one place told me $800, then redzone told me $220 for valve springs /retainers / valve adjustment (forgot to mention lma's to them), then DSR told me $500 for valve springs / retainers / lma's. does lost motion assemblies really add a lot to the labor? isnt it right there with the valve springs? if anybody in the bay area who knows what theyre doing and can help me out with this project, id appreciate it and hook u up $. or can u reccomend a place? thanks

Changing out the LMA's does add a little bit more to the labor, you have to take the rocker shafts out to take the LMA's out.
Wow I paid 46 dollars to get my old valvetrain taken out and new put in then 58 dollars for a 3 angle vavle job! but thats in FL =D
43 with the head still on the car? sounds to good to be true, I charge 50 with the head off the car.
Ive done it....Id say about 4 hours of labor at a shop, minus the LMA thing because its going to be a bitch with the motor in the car(well, more like something I wouldnt want to do for a friend). Anyway, Id say $225 is fair for all that, over $300 and somethings wrong unless they plan on taking the head off the car and replacing all the top end seals.
so how much for the whole install? and anything else you recommend doing while you do this?

I would change the valve stem seals while you are at it, to change them you have to take the springs off.....we charge $300.00 to change the springs, retainers, lma's, and valve stem seals without taking the head off the car. We provide the valve stem seals as well. All this can be done in a day if scheduled.....
