VTEC activation trouble
I just replaced the head gasket and timing belt on my daily driver its a b16 in a four door. I replaced it last night and set the timing the car drives good and everything. Put the cams straight up used the old screw driver throught the cam holes trick and crank at tdc then installed the belt. But Im still having the same problem I had before the replacement of the parts. I put the foot down slowly just to see if vtec will activate and its not well it sounds a little but rpm is moving slow when VTEC should activate. I sometimes will fuel cut down like hitting the revlimit. I have swapped the vtec solenoid from my CR-X and still nothin. Swapped ecus nothing. The things wrong with it is the speed sensor and the rpm fluctuates. Could this be the map or tps sensors if so would that cause the shitty VTEC. I thought it was the timing at first but swapped and reset everything and now Im stumped. Just thought someone here would spark my mind.. thnx CHRIS

Man I didnt get to check the distributor. I will very soon, just work kept me busy today. I appreciate everyones help. I havent checked the codes yet. When ever my speed sensor started to act up my VTEC did start acting up to either coincidence or it could be the culprit. We shall see I shall keep everyone posted. THNX

It has been confirmed (speed sensor)I figured it was it but didnt have another one to test it out but I found an old one that had eatin up gear teeth swaped over the shaft from the faulty one and wow VTEC. Thnx for all the confirmations. And help. I figured it was since it seemed to happen at the same time speed sensor and Vtec trouble thanks guys.
