I was looking on Ebay for references for a friend interested in getting a JDM front and I found this ad. The pic he used is of my car. He didn't ask if he could use it, but I don't know if there's anything I can even do about it.

Should I be proud he chose a pic of my car to use or be mad that he didn't ask permission first?

not that i would...at least i don't think i would....but i was under the impression that putting a pic on the net was basically saying it was free property cause how can you really stop it???

I'm not a computer or photo pro, I don't know how to "copyright" it to me. Oh well, I guess my car will be famous in the JDM front end conversion searches on Ebay

 

Usually, you only have to ask the person to take it off the net and they will respect your wish. Or, you can flaunt your R on the net and show it off to all your friends.

 

I had someone link from an ebay auction directly to a picture on MY webspace...needless to say I renamed the picture and put one in it's place that was sure to get him kicked off ebay.

There was another thread like this awhile back...they had the guys ebay account suspended, because he was apparently trying to scam someone.

What if he's scamming people because he doesnt actually have these parts?

Email ebay.

 

No copyright you can't do anything about it, you decided to post it on a free public website where anyone can get it

Talk to Josh (ITRSport) about this. He had this issue and I've not sure what he did about it. In this case, a company used it for magazine ads but it's an ad either way being used to make money. And I would be suspicious that he's scamming someone also.

you could be a good samaritan and email the people bidding and let them know that its your front end on the pic and you have no plan on selling it and that the seller never asked permission.
if he's planning on scaming then you have warned the potential sucker, or atleast the seller would get so much email about this and he would remove the pic.

Probably off the internet, dumbass. I'm sure that this seller has all intentions of selling her front end, getting a paypal advance, putting it towards a plane ticket, and returning to the winning bidder with the stolen goods in the back of a uhaul. Please, everyone, put down the paranoia pipe, it cant be good for your longterm health.

I had a similar problem like this one on ebay before.I was selling a 2000 B16 swap and another person on ebay used my exact same pics for his auction.I contacted ebay and the person using my pics.Long story short ebay didn't do anything about it and the person didn't take down the pics either.It's the internet,if you have a pic that isn't copyrighted pretty much anybody can use it.I hate the damn internet it's satan.

ebay user are only to use there own pictures. says it in terms and conditions

 

I e-mailed the guy and he said he got the picture off of his wholesaler's website. Oh well. I don't care that much.
