im really an all motor type of person but sometimes i need a little sqeeze to beat those turbo'd cars on the street anyways i built a b16 with a little help from omniman. Im shooting for about 185 -190 (im trying to be semi realistic ) hp and a max rpm of 9500; now im wondering if the ATS 4.9 final would be choice for me. I pretty much have a load of gearsets to pick from i have a spare 2000 si trans with all good 1-5 gears, the tranny im using a usdm ys1 LS with all good 1-5 gears, and gsr 5th gear set. my setup consists of
1.7 gsr crank
balance assembly
chamber work and valve job by portflow
omnipower valvesprings and RM retainers
omnipower valves
buddyclub spec 3+ cams
fujitsubo or hytech header ( havent decided yet )
milled 20 tho
pr3 pistons
TWM ITB's
compression works out really close to 12:1
and for those pesky boosted cars ( tuned 100 shot direct port )
hondata s200
1988 standard hatchback! 2160lbs with driver
now for the tranny this is what i got so far
exedy 'stage2' pressure plate (comes in there stage2 kit)
act full face disk
ITR lsd
and this is the part i havent decided on yet; but this setup seems best
ATS 4.929 final
ATS 1st 3.077
b16 2nd 2.105
b16 3rd 1.458
b16 4th 1.107
GSR 5th .787
now im afraid that on the sqezee i might have to shift into 5th before the end of the 1/4 mile at the strip, should i maybe move to a GSR 4th ( 1.034 instead of a 1.107? ) or should i switch to a b16 5th gear ( .848 instead of a .787) i do a little bit of freeway driving i dont mind 5k at 80mph but i would like 5k at 88-90 at 5k rpms. Anyways some input would be really nice lemme know what you guys think
Sidenote! i heard ats 4.9 finals break at the track? should i just scratch the whole setup and run a JDM 4.785? lemme know

you should keep your stock final drive and get the ATS 3-4-5 gearset. i had the 4.9 FD for a while and i absolutely loved it... until i sold it and got the gearset. that gearset is THE best thing you can do for an allmotor set. my integra was barely squeaking out 190whp and i was MOBBING b20vtec eg's putting out 210-220whp.

really? i have a b16 trans with all good gears if thats the case i maybe intersted in the ATS 3-4-5 but wont that kill my freeway cruising?
i had 195/45/15 Toyo Proxes T1-S and a stock 4.4 final drive, and i was cruising like 4100rpm at 60mph and i was redlining 5th at like 115mph. it's nuts, but sooo worth it.
I road race my B16B with ATS gearset and final drive. I am now on my third final drive after breaking the first two and I have also broken each of ATS 3rd, 4th and 5th. I keep replacing the broken parts but finally decided to abandon ATS products after breaking ATS's 4th gear for the second time last weekend. The car is awesome with both the gearset and final drive but the parts are not durable enough for me. My two other team mates have quaife gearsets and final drive and they don't have any problems.
Right now I have the ATS final drive and stock gears in my car. They work fine but I feel it is just a matter of time before it breaks.
