Default Comptech Icebox.

I'm considering getting a Comptech Icebox air intake system. The Mugen one is too expensive for me. And I can't really use the J's Racing because the tubing from the fender to the engine bay has been taken out and I don't have it.

Anyways, I was just wondering where would be a good place to buy it? I've seen the Icebox run for about 165 and the Intake arm go for about 189.

Thanks.

You can run the icebox with the stock intake arm with great results .

The J's intake does not need the stock resonator in order to have great gains.

I don't have the stock intake arm or anything.

I bought the car used with a CAI in it... CAI hurts.

if you have a/c you will need to bend them out of the way for mugen.
comptech will directlly fit, but you need the tube. how ever you could use part of the aem (i believe) just cut the arm to fit.
Js, you don't need the resonator/tube for it to work.
imo i would prefer Js between the 3 choices

You don't have to cut the oem at all. It will fit right on.

I would recommend using the stock arm over the comptech due to the price of the comptech.

Oh, I personally wouldn't do that but rather sell what he/she has now and use that money to make up for the money spent for a stock arm.

comptech is an awesome setup...

my personal favorite anyway.

Quiet, not super expensive and great gains shown over a stock intake.

I am going to be running another comptech special with ice boxes at 150 and the air intakes at 170.

Just keep your eyes peeled in the marketplace

I believe that the AEM/short ram for the R will Not work/fit with the Comptech Icebox. I remember somebody awhile ago trying it and possibly having issues with the bend in the pipe mating to the Comptech box correctly.

And In my experience the Comptech arm/box are very closely matched for fitment.

That is Not to say the Stock intake arm won't fit. It does indeed. I've tried it both ways... Gotta love the bling though

I've had the AEM/CAI and the Icebox and a DIY Stock setup, and if I did it all over again, I'd still go with the Icebox, but without the shiny uber expensive intake arm they rape you for.

it will fit right on there, I know the ITR intake is slightly different, but it should work anyhow.

I don't have any of the stock intake components. So I'll be getting the Icebox and Intake Arm. I just need a cheap place to buy it from.

does the stock ITR intake arm ( or any of the stock intake arms for that matter) resist heat better than the cheap-o aluminum arms that the generic short rams are made out of?

in theory, and my opinion yes. plastic or rubber resist heat better than aluminum.

The H-T classifieds is your best bet IMO. Fawk buying one of those brand new....you can find one used and pay $100 less in just as good of shape as when the original owner bought it. I bought mine used, i love and have nothing to say but WOW! Instant throttle response, substantial gains over stock.....EH HEM and lets not forget about the bling CF .
