hey all. i think there is some kind of problem with my tach. when i'm just driving, the needle will spaz out and show that my engine is at higher rpms than it actually is. the engine's rpms stay the same, but my tach shows a dramatic change in rpms. along with this problem, i can smell gas when my car is just idling. it's a pretty intense smell sometimes. and also, my gas seems to be decreasing quicker than it should. are these problems (tach spazing and gas smell) related? i'm not very knowledgeable in these types of situations, so any help would be great. thanks...

 

Most of the time a bouncing tach is a bad ignitor unit. The ignitor sends a signal directly to the tach. HTH
