NASCAR door Bars and open/no window question...
Hey H-T racer dudes.
I have NASCAR door bars, no driver's side window, and an open trailer... you see where I'm going with this...
When transporting your car to an event, and rain becomes an issue, how do you deal with the lack of a driver's side window?
Duct tape + Garbage bag?

dave 8), if its the type of door with a window frame, what I did for 2 years was take the glass and slide it back into the window channels through the top opening. Put a vice grip under the window's bottom on the channel and it won't move - take some racers tape to the poor closure if you care to (not really necca IMO). What I would do going forward should I find the need is what Sam Moore does down here, cut out a piece of tarp the shape of the outside of the window, sew a mirror piece to it, flip it inside out and hang it over the frame. When you close the door, voila, sturdy tarp-like window covering that won't leak.
Seriously doubt a hefty bag will survive towing but it very well might.

I made 2 metal brackets that hold the glass in tight like it should be with the windows all the way up. When I gett o the track, I just take 4 bolts out and both windows come out!

I took my stock glass. Drilled 3 holes in it.
2 close together and 1 on the other end of the glass. I would then put it in place. Use a lock though the 2 closer together holes and a dowel in the other. That way it was up and firm and it provided a drop of security!

Ditto on the Plexiglas/Lexan.

I do this too. Works great.
I use 2 of the tarp-type bungees. (The ones that are a loop with a ball on the end.) My miata window has holes in the bottom of the window. I use those holes, and the holes in the top of the door (the part on the inside that's left after cutting for doorbars) to string the bungee through and reattach it to itself over the ball. Car stays nice and dry. I'd post pix, but I'm still not in the digital camera world yet. Sorry.
Good Luck!
ps - Because I'm me and like to drop stuff, I wrapped duct tape around the window since it's glass and I don't want it to make a huge mess when I eventually drop it. Coincidentally, it looks sort of like a window net pattern. Hehe.
