Default pulled the motor! lots of pics!! :)

well my piston rings were going bad, and i decided, hell, i want power. so i decided to take $4,000 out of the bank and invest in *some* motor upgrades... so we pulled the motor last monday and tuesday and slapped in my friend's b18b LS motor so i could atleast have a car to drive temporarily... im sending my block out to benson to have it sleeved and bored to 84mm , then i'm gonna go boost... here's some pics..

we finally figured out why my car would go WAAAAAAAAA when it tried starting... damn teeth are all chipping on the flywheel!!

assembled...

disassembled...

yep yep i look like a flamer..

my motor has a new home on its way to bensons...

and its all made possible by the help of these fellas..

woohoo

when i get the motor back next month i'll post when the turbo kit is done benson sleeves, 9:1 forged pistons, crower cams, built head.. 12's are my goal, but we'll see

Its going to be tough on yourself to drive around with a stock b18b after having a c1. But once you get boosted all those memories will soon fade away.

Im glad you've decided to let the darkside take you in.

yeah the b18b is sluggish, but it's actually faster than my completely built n/a gsr was (40% leakage through the piston rings from the leakdown test!!!!) i can't wait to go darkside though, 300+ minimum horsepower is gonna be fun.. only problem now is traction

as far as that flywheel goes, it was a lightened flywheel with 125k miles on it so it's been beat on. i wanna get another light flywheel, cuz that fast revving is just so much fun

yeah, but now i hafta buy 1. new suspension 2. new brakes and rotors 3. lots of new gaskets for the motor, plus a whole lot more things that i need to replace on the motor, then some other **** that's wrong with the car it'll be a whole new car, but damn it'll be fun!!

Just curious as I'll be building a bottom end later

headwork is already done. i have skunk2 valves and retainers, and stage2 cams which i'll trade for crowers. as for bottom end, i'm going benson sleeves (84mm), some kind of forged pistons and rods, 9.5:1 compression (still gonna figure out what kind) i already have a clutch and jdm itr tranny, so a lot of the work is already done.

gotta love that LSD though... wheel hop is eliminated, and once i get grip it'll go pretty quick. the 4.78 FD may be a PITA with grip though, so maybe i'll downgrade to a usdm 4.4 or something, but it's not likely. if i do, it'll be further on down the road. right now i'm just focused on getting this motor built, later on i'll start worrying about how i'm going to actually get down the 350hp to the ground

hey, atleast it'll be cool to do burnouts on the highway

lol i noticed that too after i uploaded the pics, i was like wtf were we smoking. just as long as it's not upside down it doesn't really matter, it's padded all the way around, and that block is not moving 1mm, it's perfectly packed in.
