Default gsr head on stock ls?

I've searched and seen some answers but there not exactly what i'm lookin for.

I have a stock LS, would there be any difference if i slapped on gsr head, obviously a complete gsr head with manifold and all. Or do i have to do any modifications? Thanks alot.

Sure you can put a gsr head on an ls block. This has been going for yrs and is commonly refered to as an ls/vtec. But from the jist of your question it sounds like you haven't really heard of this kind of engine modification. Try searching...

is alhambra near martinez ca. ? sorry not meaning to jack....

ls/vtec has oil leak probs if done incorrectly...but done correctly with a b16 head u can pick up some more CCs and end up with a better engine than the stock GSR...so many topics on this that a book can be written about it

yeah i have seen an LS/vtec but i still want the reliabilty of the motor, i thought more work would have to be done to make it a vtec, so slapping a gsr head would make it an ls/vtec?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by killerb20zallmotor &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Sure you can put a gsr head on an ls block. i dont prefer the gsr head because of port design. you do gain a slight bit of compression from a gsr head compared to a b16 head... but you dont gain cc... you gain combustion chamber volumn. the gsr's mani is a terd too and wouldn't be fun to mess with IMO. if you used the gsr head, i'd say look at the skunk2 IM... it'll be easier to deal with on the instal. you might want to check out http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com and look at their LS/VTEC kits they have, it makes putting the head on more strait forward. then you'll need a obd1 vtec ecu (chipped p28, p30, obd1 pr3, p61, p72) if you're car is obd2, i'd recommend swaping to obd1 and using an obd1 computer w/ a jumper harness. then all you have to do is wire 3 sensors outside of the stock harness then drive the car. As long as you dont rev past 7200, the motor will last forever. just make sure to keep up on fluid and everything, dont get lazy with it, watch for leaks.... and it'll be really fun
