This question is kinda out there, but I'm bored (aka at work) and can't stop thinking about racing tomorrow so I pose this: What in you opinion is the best autocross upgrade for a stock class ITR and why? Konis? Cat-back? Azenis? Axxis pads? etc...
a good driver.
Tires are very important. BUt i would say the best upgrade would be Driver, I have seen some great drivers bring the worst cars to the top.

Absolutely agreed!
#1 A good driver and or more seat time
&
#2 Tires
Especially in an R.

Totally. At the last event I attended I worked with a fellow that had a '93 LS with over 200k miles and only Konis as an upgrade. Shortly after working along side him, I saw one of his runs and was blown away by his control. It's truely amazing what seat time and familiarity of one's vehicle can do.

If it's a single upgrade you're after- start with the driver. Take an Evolution school (or 2 or 3). http://www.autocross.com/evolution/
After that:
#2 Tires- Go with Kumho Victoracers if you've never run R compounds before. They're worth maybe 2-3 seconds over decent summer only street tires like Azenis, so if you're further back than that work on #1 first. They also last a long time, and can be street driven to and from events. Don't go with Hoosiers until you're near the front (and can afford to replace them frequently).
#2a Mazda Millenia wheels are cheap, and legal in stock (15x6 only). Use them for your race tires.
#3 Shocks- Don't bother until you're running up with the top 2 or 3 in DS locally. The stock shocks are good enough to get you there, Konis are probably worth less than a second.

Brake pads arent as important... if you have good tires, the car will stop
