Default losing power on H22 help!!!

I need an insight on what might be going on. My H22 EG has trapped 100-102mph in the 1/4 but for the last 3 Friday runs I've been trapping 95-96mph. WTF? I've nothing to this car except change the magnaflow muffler to an S2000 muffler with the same 2.5" piping. @ first I thought it was the muffler but I ran open header with the same results. I've only added about 25lb to the car with my sub and have run without it but it changed nothing. It does burn oil so I did a compression test and got this.
#1=240
#2=240
#3=210
#4=210

does this seems normal? is it time for a rebuild? I beat on this car almost on a daily basis but just a month ago I was doing 13.9@99. I need some insight on what to do. I've lost 5mph and cant figure out where and how. Timing is stock, cams are dead on and it runs perfectly fine with no CEL. HELP ME.

EDIT......... I solved the problem. It did end up being the muffler after all.

I'd say run after run your clutch is taking a beating. How or what clutch are you running and what type of flywheel. Unless you've lost compression I'd say take a look into that!

I thought it could be the clutch but since I'm able to spin 1st and 2nd sometimes 3rd I rules it out as the culprit. I'm using a stock clutch with a 8lb fidanza flywheel. It doesnt feel like it slipping. Basically this car seems like it got no top end. My 1/8 is down 2-3 mph also. If it werent for the track I'd wouldnt know I,ve lost power that how normal it feels.

You're drag racing with an 8 lb flywheel? That's the worst flywheel in the world to use. It's probably done for. Lightweight flywheels are ideal for auto-xing/roadracing not drag racing. I'd almost bet if you put a heavier and better flywheel in with a stronger clutch your mph would be right back!

i've had this flywheel on for about 6 months and trapped 100 mph @ the track. I did trap 101 with the stock one though.

Did you check your compression when you were running 100 mph?

the same situation that happened to me. i'm thinking well i think its the drive to the track takes an 45 mins to get there. 5 mins later i ran the car. i was trapping 95-97 mph also. im guessing the motor was didn't cooled down enough after the long drive. i ususally wait 20 mins till i race the car. since i didn't have anytime and i have to get my runs in before it close. best time that day was 14.1 97mph out of 4 runs. i usually trap 99-100pmph. oh yeah there was 40-50mph winds that day when i ran it and the track wasn't preped. im going back on sunday. hopefully it'll be a nice day.

I'm telling you, if you've been hard on that lightweight flywheel for those six months it's probably screwed. They're usually chromoly surfaced/aluminum which build heat fast and tend to warp. Warping will cause the contact patch of the clutch disc not to make proper contact with the flywheel. I'd almost guarantee that's what's wrong!

looks like you could be right, I talked to a mechanic today and he says that my clutch is taking a **** because I still trap in 4th gear however the car is not accelerating like it should due to the clutch slipping. Looks like I'll be changing the clutch and flywheel. Thanks for the help.

Are you getting a lot of blow by? Is your filter on the valve cover soaked in oil? Mine started to get like that before the re-build. You rings are probably just starting to go. Do another compression test. Make sure the motor is warm and throttle wide open. Do it like normal and then do it again but pour oil down the cylinders. You should get a good read on what condition the rings are in.

I'll try that thanks. My # above was with the motor warm, I dont have that filter on the valvecover. That tube is going directly into the air filter tube and I did notice alot of oil in the AF piping.

ok update.

I changed my clutch and flywheel.... hell since I hydrolocked it and blew #1 through the block I replaced it with another H22. I went to the track with a new clutch and motor and was only able to trap 97mph... WTF? I know it was humid out but why is 100mph still illuding me? I am now looking into upgrading my fuel pump cause maybe its starving for fuel.

yeah maybe its about that time to upgrade the fuel pump and when you do get it. let us know what happens?

update..

I went to the track again this time I.....

1. ran on drag radials
2. upgraded to a walbro fuel pump 255.

I was only able to do 14.2@96mph .

I am running on a JDMSHIT chipped p28 and noticed on my A/F guage that I run very lean @ high rpm, so it still starving for fuel. I figured replacing my FP with a walbro would cure that problem but I guess it didnt.

One other thing..... with this walbro pump I noticed that when I disconnect the vaccum hose on the FPR my fuel pressure would stay @40 psi... is this normal? with my stock pump it would jump to 65psi when disconnected.

If you take the vacuum line off your FPR and it doesn't raise the pressure, then it is broke and thats why you are running lean up top. Is that A/F guage an Auotmeter one or an actual wideband? You need to get a new FPR, get to the dyno, and tune it, and then you should make a lot more power. I've seen a car gain massive hp when going from VERY lean, to 14-13:1. I wouldn't run the car until you get an new FPR.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ranta18 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Is that A/F guage an Auotmeter one or an actual wideband?</TD></TR></TABLE> just an autometer.

I did replace the FPR with a stock one but the fp only jumps to 45psi with the vacuum disconnected, however it didnt go lean @ high rpm... according to my A/F guage that is.. I will be getting a wideband soon after I finish my uberdata map.
