Progress pics of my hybrid Civic/GSR cluster into my sedan. Mini how-to, y0
EDIT: Test fitment pictures are here. It's rough and I need to do some sanding and use a little filler, but you get the basic idea
This is my GSR/Civic Hybrid gauge cluster bezel. This is done by triming out the entire Civic bezel all the way up to just the front lip and the mounting screw holes at the top. You also need an Integra bezel, and you will trim everything away except the part that mounts against the cluster.
You need to get the cluster itself mounted and solid. Use metal strips or back strap...whatever you want to do. Make sure it's level and at a good angle for you to see from the driver seat.
Then put the Integra bezel against the cluster, and put the Civic bezel back in place. Then you need to make some support braces to hold the two in this exact position. One on the top, bottom and each side will be fine. Use some pieces of plastic and some plastic weld. You need to make all of these on the bottom so it doesn't obstruct the final product. They need to be out of the way.
After the plastic weld has dried and the hybrid skeleton is stiff, you can pull it back out.
When it's out, I hope you're familiar with fleece and fiberglass resin. Stretch it over the frame and get your fingers nice and sticky with the resin. You may have to do it in sections to keep wrinkles away
After this dries trim all the excess material away with a dremel. Then trim the Integra bezel out. Put some resin all on the underside to make it stiff with the Integra skeleton now missing.
These pictures is what it will now look like. After hours and hours of sanding and then some bondo, you'll have a perfect and seamless hybrid bezel.
Drill the holes for the top bezel mount holes (which you left on from the Civic face bezel). This will make sure it all lines back up right.
Then just paint and enjoy your hybrid creation. It looks amazing in the dash. Perfect OEM fit. I'll get some installed pics in a few hours as I'm currently at a friends house.

Look at the above picture....see how I cut off the edge of the bezel that rests against the cluster? I used this to make the skeleton.

Oh, and YES, the cruise control, dimmer, hazard, and defrost buttons all fit in just fine. This is something you'll have to make sure of before you start fiberglassing the skeleton.
I have no idea what youdid, but it cool anyway!
So, you used the skeleton from the Integra and the face from the Civic?
I don't know what you used and I can't figure it out from the pics or by what you wrote up.
Please explain... maybe point to stuff in the pics???

Let me try to rephrase.
You need a Civic cluster bezel and a cluster bezel that matches whatever cluster you have. My case would be 94+ Integra.
Cut the entire backside out of the Civic bezel, leaving only the face 'trim' section and the upper mounting screw holes.
Then cut all of the FRONT off of the Integra bezel. Leave it about 1" thick from the cluster end.
Tape the Integra bezel to the cluster, and then put the Civic Bezel back in place. Use pieces of plastic and plastic weld to hold it in this exact position. You want it really sturdy. Then when it's dried pull it back out.
Now you have a perfect hybrid skeleton that you can cover with fleece/tshirt and then resin over it for a perfect molded look.
You have to sand it all smooth and then paint the whole piece black, but it's well worth it. Makes the GSR cluster look like it belongs there.
I'll have in dash pics in a few minutes.

aahhhh - I think I got it now.
So looking at your finished product BEFORE you comecticly complete it you have gaps or whatever.
You the fiberglass or whatever to finish the face of it.
Is that right?

Yep, that's exactly right. You have about a 2" gap along the top side and maybe 1-1.5" gap along the lower portion and the sides.
Since the Civic bezel is really squared and the Integra is more of an oval, making a mold is the best way to make it seamless.
If you're familiar with making molds and using resin etc it's a piece of cake, just time consuming (as everything is). This is the same method used to make fiberglass stereo enclosures.

Oh, and also notice how I had to cut out the bottom of the bezel, the part that rests above the steering column.
This is because the cluster was so deep, it just wouldn't fit. The overall height was too much.
I'm going to have fiberglass over that section also in order to keep it all covered up.
