Default Uberdata ---> usb female adapter port

Ok, so i've read articles about the Nokia USB adapter, but I have another idea.

I have a female USB adapter port left over from my pc. I figured this might be another solution. I want to be able to connect the 4 wires adapter to the ECU (CN2) connectors and mount the USB adapter plate to the ECU for ease. Then just plug a usb cable to the ecu and to the PC.

Here is the wiring schema for the USB adapter port:

red (+5v)
white (data-) Rx?
green (data+) Tx?
black (ground)
black (ground, shell) possibly to ecu housing?

ECU CN2:
#1 = Ground
#2 = Tx
#3 = +5v
#4 = Rx
#5 = N/A

So, in theory, I should be able to connect the four, mount the adapter plate to the ECU, and use a cable, right? Suggestions? ??

the only way to find out for sure is trial an error bro. if you've got a spare ecu...there won't be any harm done...don't worry, even if there is, i can fix it for ya. it sounds like it'll work...but sometimes things don't happen the way you would expect them too.

You might have better luck by going to the uberdata forum at

You still need the Nokia cable to convert the TTL signal from the ECU to a serial format to be compatible with the PC.

So (if it works) would allow to reburn a chip directly right ? (uberdata pre-rookie...lol)

No. You would need to have a NVSRAM chip and the associated hardware set up in the ECU to allow RTP. Start here: http://www.pgmfi.org

You might be able to do it in software, I'm not sure what the USB hardware spec defines...

Correct, this will not allow me to burn the chip directly.. like Jim said..

I'm just trying to get a cheaper work-around since I have all this computer stuff laying around at home collecting dust..
