Default Problems with my d16...........need help!!!

Ok i have this funny feeling that i have a bent rod or some type of internal damage. When i slightly push the throtle in the engine bay i hear a tapping sound coming from the block or head. It is not the ticking from the injectors b/c this is coming from the front of the block. The engine is vibrating a good amount, more then usual and my idel is very irratic. When you hold the shifter your whole arm vibrates. What could this be? Is there a way to see if my internals are still in good shape, with like a compression tester?

Also after the car sits for like a few hours, no matter if it rains or not, my belts squile. I have had shops look at them many times and say they are fine. I think they are full of it.

hard to tell, but any engine sound like knocking, tapping, slapping, etc or any "ing" sound is not a good thing. Make a video, post that up so we can tell better. Also yea, you can get the normal stuff, code scan if you have a cel, leakdown test/compression, look for vacum leaks, yada yada..

make a video

I don't know about the squeeling belts, but I would just replace them with gator backs. I have never had those squeel on me. As for the vibration, it sounds to me like you have a dead cylinder. Make sure a plug wire didn't pop off or something like that. However, the knocking you are hearing could be a bad rod bearing.

First I would check to see if everything was firing. Then if I still heard the knocking, I would pull the pan and give the rods a wiggle on the crank juornals. If one doesn't feel absolutely tight, then that's the one knocking. A compression tester won't necessarily tell you if a bearing is dying, only if your'e not getting seal. Good luck.

drives fine, but the knocking gets rather annoying. as for performance wise.....YES, it's getting slower.

well the first easiest thing you can do is a compression test.

go buy a compression tester, I think they're like 20bux or so.

really easy to use and do the test.

basically you dissable the fuel injectors.
it varys from car to car, on 92-95 civics you remove the 15A fuse in the upper left of the fusebox(underhood) i believe it says ecu.

then pull all the plugs,
put the comp tester in the #1 plug hole,
hold the throttle open 100% and try to start it,
you want to watch the gauge and listen to it crank.
usually 6cranks does it, but you basically go till the gauge stops climbing(dont crank too much u could damage stuf).

record the number and go to the next cyl.
and so on.

do it with the engine warm.
