Default Burning oil? What's going on? Should I be concerned?

I just did an oil change before the DC Tour with Royal Purple. I checked my oil level the other day and it's down below the dot on the dip stick. The car is a 2000 Honda Civic Si with about 68,000 miles, 180 autocrosses, two track days and that's about it.

Anything I should be concerned about? One suggestion is the piston rings are going bad.

my ITR has always burned oil when running at high RPM's... it really isn't anything to worry about unless your engine is burning oil excessively, imo. What is excessively? For me, I was seeing about 1/2 quart of Mobil 1 synthetic disappear after around 60 miles on track (HPDE).

As always YMMV

Christian, who knows that there is only so much that piston rings can do at 8200+ RPM's...

Keep in mind that a synthetic oil will burn off faster than dino oil.
Also, the valve guides will wear and cause this as well.
Fairly common in B-series engines, though you have pretty low mileage to be worrying about refreshing the head.

Don't worry about it. Volkswagon considers burning a quart of oil every 3000 miles is completely normal.

Just run the hell out of it and change the oil every 3k. You'll be alright.

Nice

I thought I had a lot on my car with 85 autocrosses and 28 track events.

Hang on, it's a 2000? That's about one per weekend since you bought it. Waiiiit, co-driver(s), right?

Sorry to not add anything useful

Car is 4.5 years old.

30-50 autocrosses a year. Only let two people co-drive at two events EVER.
