Removing window tint from my ITR...
I got some window tint in my used ITR (actually looks pretty good). I was wondering, for future reference, is there an easy way to remove window tint without destroying my interior with messy chemicals or scratching my windows up with razorblades. It looks like the stuff I have is the film type.
Dont do it unless you really want it off eventually. Then take it to a shop that does window tint. They have a hot steam gun thing that will get if off without stratching the window or getting chemicals in the car. It will cost you $$$ though
This will blow your mind but i saw a guy take a spray bottle full of water and get the tint all wet then press a garbage bag on it and let it dry. he just pulled all the tint right off. When it got stuck he would spray a bit of water on the glass.. It was a clean job..
I just stood there with my mouth open..

Can you tell us why you hate tint?

I just removed window tint on my accord last week....
I used a heat gun, and all it did was make it smell bad....
took out a brand new razor blade and sprayed a lot of windex and it came out perfect....
The back window is a different story.....
peel the tint off and instead of a razor blade use this

yes go to pep boys .. and buy a clay bar usually used to take contaminates out of paint... used the lube and the bar on the window to get the sticker gunk off... it will come right off with no effort.... gunk be gone you have to rubb so hard you will lose your arms

However if I were you I'd pay a tint shop to take it off.</TD></TR></TABLE>

You guys are hilarious
I recently removed some from my ITR as well. Side windows came off so incredibly easy. Cut a line with a razor blade and pull. Seriously no residue was left over.
The rear windows are more trickey. Did the same method however it split a lot more. Windex removed the leftover gunk, never needed ammonia or trash bags or all that other stuff. I spent a couple hours online searching for tips and how-to's and when i just sat down and did it it came out perfectly.
The rear defroster still works perfectly and the tint is all gone.

i found that its best to peel it when its cool. if the sun is on it or its hot out the glue will be left behind more. hose the windows down before you do it to help cool them. i tried windex and ammonia with razor blade and still cant get the **** off the hatch glass. so i left it.

I did the same thing when I wanted to have the windows retinted, slight cut to get a grip and pull. works just fine.

You'd have to be pretty careless with the razor blade for it to scratch your windows. I've removed tint several times off different cars and it's not that hard. Lots of Windex and a razor blade do the trick nicely. The only part I'd be careful of is the rear window because of the defroster. I'd have a shop do that.
