Default F_cking Continental Acura dealer!!

So I had a rattling header or cat, and I drop the car off and tell them to find out what's wrong. They tell me $600 for the A-pipe, and I said I can live with a rattle for that much money. They also wanted me to buy replacement heat shields for under the car. I said, "You guys removed them a year ago because they rattled so bad...why would I want them back on?" Talk about trying to sucker me in...

A day or so later, I pop the hood to install my Injen SRI. I notice the header heatshield is dangling there. There's only one bolt holding it on. Funny, because all four were there before it went to the dealer. I removed the heatshield and said I would go back and get the bolts returned to me.

I picked up a new a-pipe from Sh4rky (thanks again dude) and had a local auto place install it (Maximum Automotive, they're great). They got it on no sweat, but when I picked it up he says "you're missing 3 bolts at the exhaust manifold."

He showed me how both studs had NO bolts on the end and another bolt was GONE. We actually found one of the bolts on top of the power steering pump and removed it with a magnet. One of the other bolts was actually lodged between the rear heatshield and the header...impossible to remove at this point. You could hear an exhaust leak when you rev the engine.

Great.

So I go BACK to Continental Acura and explain to a service manager what happened. They brought the tech around and he denies it all. "We never removed the heatshield or the manifold or a-pipe. That had to have been from when you had that aftermarket exhaust installed." I informed him that installing the exhuast was done BY ME and that I never even popped the hood.

The service manager backed up his tech and said, "I can't make him take responsibility or something he didn't do."

My father was with and at that point said, "Well whatever, there's other Acura dealers in the area." We drove off.

What ********!! He clearly HAD to have removed the header to diagnose a baffle INSIDE it as the problem. If he was sloppy and was dropping or losing bolts, and admits it, then that's cool. I just wanted the bolts replaced. But nope, he covered up his obvious mistake and got pissy.

Don't go to Continental Acura in Naperville, IL. Their techs are sloppy and they won't take any responsibility. Thank God it was just bolts for a header and not my transmission housing or lug nuts. They just aren't customer-oriented...they hate working on cars and taking my money.

I will now be traveling 30 minutes to the better McGrath Acura in Westmont, IL. Not only is the customer service better, but I can always get appointments quicker. They are always very welcoming, giving me free food, answering questions with no BS, and just being friendly.

*end rant*
